River Forest declares “vehement opposition”

Village President Cathy Adduci said on August 26 that River Forest is in “vehement opposition” to the project, which would run about two miles through the village from Madison Street to the Des Plaines River, including two blocks at grade near Iowa Street with four crossings. She has contacted Senate President Don Harmon, Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford, Speaker Chris Welch, and Rep. Camille Lilly.

“I can’t imagine that they would agree to have 80 mph trains running through our community,” she told the Forest Park Review. Sen. Harmon said he wants to hear from the neighbors most directly affected. Read the coverage.
